Western Texas College and Cogdell Memorial Hospital proudly announce a new collaborative partnership designed to strengthen physical health and wellness support for Western Texas College students and employees. The three-year agreement brings two community anchor institutions together around a shared goal: helping people stay healthy so they can thrive in college, at work and in life.

By strengthening connections to local health care, preventive services and wellness education, the partnership can help remove barriers that may interfere with attendance, academic progress, athletic participation or workplace success.

“Supporting the whole person means caring about both physical and mental well-being,” said Dr. Laurie Sharp, president of Western Texas College. “Our work with Cogdell gives our college family clearer connections to trusted local health resources while creating more opportunities for preventive care, education and wellness on campus. That kind of support helps people stay well, stay engaged and keep moving toward their goals.”

Through the partnership, Cogdell will work to connect Western Texas College (WTC) students and employees with timely outpatient health services as staffing and capacity allow. Services may include physical and wellness examinations, immunizations, preventive care, treatment for illnesses and minor injuries, chronic condition management, diagnostic services and referrals to specialists.

"We are excited about the opportunity to partner with WTC on multiple fronts,” said Shane Bryant, Chief Operating Officer of Cogdell Memorial Hospital. “Connecting WTC students with our medical services to support their health and wellness while partnering for their professional growth and development is a true win for the Snyder community."

The physical health partnership complements WTC’s partnership with Cogdell Behavioral Health. Together, these efforts strengthen a coordinated approach to wellness that recognizes the connection between physical health, mental health and student success.

The partnership puts key priorities from WTC’s 2026-2036 strategic plan, “Serving Students Together,” into action. In the strategic plan, the College commits to identifying challenges early and connecting students with timely, coordinated support. The plan also calls for supportive workplace practices that promote employee well-being and engagement.

Students and employees may continue choosing the health care providers that best meet their needs. Services offered through Cogdell remain subject to availability, insurance coverage and standard billing policies.

Representatives from WTC and Cogdell plan to meet regularly to review their work, respond to emerging health needs and identify new opportunities to support the campus and surrounding community.
