Snyder sits in the heart of West Texas with the major cities of Abilene, Lubbock, and Midland just a short jaunt down the highway. Named for William Henry Snyder, the town started from humble beginnings as a trading post for buffalo hunters. Today, Snyder boasts an oil and industrial-based economy in addition to many amenities found in most small cities across Texas. Snyder hosts several major family-oriented events and festivals during the year that visitors, residents, and students of all ages can enjoy.
