Opportunity Tuition Waiver

Western Texas College’s Opportunity Tuition Waiver helps eligible Scurry County students reduce the cost of attending WTC by covering tuition and certain required fees.

WHAT THE WAIVER COVERS

The Opportunity Tuition Waiver pays for tuition and the general use fee. Additional costs such as textbooks, access codes, and some course fees will be your responsibility.

WHO SHOULD APPLY

This waiver is intended for:

  • Dual credit students attending a Scurry County high school

  • Graduates of a Scurry County high school

  • Returning WTC students seeking renewal

  • Scurry County homeschool students seeking Early Admission.

COMMUNITY SERVICE REQUIREMENT

To qualify for WTC’s Opportunity Waiver, you must complete community service with an approved organization located in Scurry County and report your hours as part of the application process. You may choose the organization that best matches your interests and are responsible for tracking your volunteer hours.

As part of the application, you will:

  • List each organization where you volunteered and the total number of hours completed at each location.

  • Ensure your combined total equals at least 20 hours.

  • Certify that the information you submit is complete and accurate.

Examples of organizations where you can complete community service in Scurry County include:

Schools and education-focused organizations

Faith-based organizations

  • Snyder ISD

  • Ira ISD

  • Hermleigh ISD

  • Scurry County Museum

  • Western Texas College

  • Local churches providing community outreach programs (Examples: food drives, youth programs, community events)

City or county government offices

Public service organizations

  • City of Snyder

  • Scurry County Library

  • Scurry County Senior Center

  • Scurry County Youth Center

  • Texas Agri-Life – Scurry County

  • Development Corporation of Snyder

  • Snyder Chamber of Commerce

Community Youth Programs

  • KCD Farms

  • Little Dribblers

  • Other Scurry County youth leagues

Non-profit and 501(c)(3) organizations

  • Gateway Family Services
