Welcome to all new and returning Western Texas College students! We are excited you’re on campus!
We want to welcome you in a big Texas way, so Western Texas College (WTC) invites our new and returning students and their families to Westerner Welcome Day on Saturday, August 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Start your day of fun by checking in at the Student Commons in Glover Hall, Building 28. At the check-in, you'll get food tickets for the food trucks, and you’ll get registered for giveaways! Then, head outside to the front of campus for food, activities, giveaways and plenty of Westerner fun.
Whether you’re new to WTC or returning for another year, Westerner Welcome Day will help you feel at home, meet new people and discover the resources available to support you. Local businesses, churches and community organizations will also be there to share information about their services and activities in the community.
“We are so excited to welcome new and returning Westerners to campus,” said Lora Poe, WTC Foundation Director. “This event gives students and their families a great start to the semester and helps them make meaningful connections at WTC.”
Need to pick up books, school supplies or new WTC gear? The WTC Bookstore in the Student Center (Building 3) will be open during the event. Guests can also visit the Scurry County Museum and explore the people, places and stories that shaped Snyder and West Texas.
Several of Snyder’s favorite local food trucks will be set up to provide you and your families with lunch. We’re pleased to offer you a choice of food from Rollin' Woodfired Pizza, Burger Shack, or Mexican food from Norma’s Cafe. The Soda Shack will also be serving refreshing drinks!
And what about those giveaways? You’ll have a chance to win gift cards and gift baskets!
“Starting the semester with a strong support system makes a real difference for students,” said Christylee DeBlieck, Student Success and International Programs Director. “Westerner Welcome Day gives you and your family a chance to ask questions, find resources, meet friendly faces and feel part of the Westerner community from the very beginning.”
