Western Texas College proudly announces the renewal and expansion of Dual Credit Partnership Agreements with school districts throughout its service region, reinforcing a shared commitment to increasing educational opportunity, college readiness, and workforce preparation for students across West Texas.
The agreements establish a collaborative framework between Western Texas College (WTC) and participating independent school districts to provide qualified high school students with access to college-level coursework while completing their high school education. Through these partnerships, students can earn both high school and college credit at the same time, accelerating progress toward certificates, associate degrees, university transfer pathways, and workforce credentials.
As Texas continues to prioritize workforce development and educational attainment through initiatives such as Building a Talent Strong Texas by 2030, dual credit programs play increasingly important roles in helping students access affordable pathways to higher education and careers. By earning college credit while still in high school, students can reduce the time and cost required to complete a degree or certificate and enter the workforce more quickly.
“Our dual credit partnerships are among the most impactful investments we can make in student success,” said Molli Fleming, Dual Credit and Course Sharing Director at WTC. “These agreements create opportunities for students to experience college-level learning in a supportive environment while building confidence, saving money, and making meaningful progress toward their educational and career goals. We are grateful for the strong collaboration of our school district partners and their shared commitment to expanding opportunities for students throughout our region.”
The partnership agreements outline collaborative efforts to support student success through academic advising, college readiness initiatives, instructional quality, student support services, and seamless transfers of college credit. The agreements also strengthen alignment between secondary and postsecondary education, helping students navigate pathways from high school to college and careers.
WTC currently serves dual credit students across numerous school districts in its service area and continues to expand access to both academic transfer and workforce education pathways. These opportunities allow students to begin earning credentials of value while preparing for continued education or immediate entry into high-demand careers. The College’s dual-credit partnerships include Albany High School, Aspermont High School, Benjamin High School, Blackwell High School, Borden County High School, Colorado High School, Del Valle High School, Hermleigh High School, Highland High School, Ira High School, Jayton-Girard High School, Knox City High School, Loraine High School, Munday High School, Olfen High School, Roscoe Collegiate High School, Rotan High School, Snyder High School, Sweetwater High School, Throckmorton Collegiate High School, and Westbrook High School.
“Strong partnerships with our school districts are essential to fulfilling the mission of Western Texas College,” said Stephanie Ducheneaux, Vice President for Academic Affairs. “When colleges and school districts work together, students benefit from clearer pathways, greater access to opportunity, and a stronger foundation for future success. These agreements reflect our shared belief that every student should have access to affordable, high-quality educational experiences that prepare them for college, careers, and lifelong learning.”
The renewed and expanded agreements reflect WTC’s ongoing commitment to serving students, families, and communities throughout the region by increasing access to higher education and creating pathways that support economic mobility and workforce development.
Through these partnerships, WTC and its school district partners are helping students achieve more earlier by earning college credit, reducing educational costs, and building momentum toward meaningful careers and success after high school.
