Office Space Art Gallery presents Robotico by Alex Monroy with painting of blue military robots

The Office Space Art Gallery at Western Texas College will showcase the work of Alex Monroy in an exhibition titled, “Robotico.” Created by Western Texas College (WTC) alumnus Alex Monroy, the exhibit is open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m, Monday through Friday, until May 1.

“In our lives, one thing that has become of concern is the social disconnect and automation of the human condition,” Monroy writes in his artist statement.

Monroy’s work explores the growing tension between humanity and technology, drawing on themes of automation, artificial intelligence, and social disconnection. Through a blend of West Texas landscapes, working-class imagery, and science fiction influences, the exhibit presents a visual narrative that challenges viewers to reflect on how technology shapes human relationships and identity.

The collection highlights how modern culture, driven by rapid technological advancement and constant digital consumption, can reduce individuals to machine-like roles. At the same time, Monroy’s work emphasizes resilience, underscoring the persistence of the human spirit despite these shifts.

Visitors will encounter a series of works that merge familiar regional elements with futuristic imagery, creating a world that feels increasingly relevant as automation continues to expand.

The Office Space Art Gallery, located in the WTC Fine Arts Building, regularly features student, faculty, and visiting artist exhibitions throughout the academic year.
