The Western Texas College Board of Trustees unanimously appointed Dr. Laurie Sharp as President at their board meeting on November 10, 2025. Dr. Sharp will succeed Dr. Barbara Beebe and start on December 1, 2025.
The Board took an official vote at the meeting after waiting the required 21 days following the announcement of Sharp as the lone finalist, as mandated by Texas state law. She will serve as the seventh president of Western Texas College (WTC).
“The Board is confident that Dr. Sharp will continue to build upon the strong foundation established under Dr. Beebe’s leadership,” said Jason West, President of the WTC Board of Trustees. “Her experience, vision, and commitment to student success make her the right choice to guide Western Texas College into its next chapter.”
In addition to the appointment of the new president, the Board unanimously appointed Ralph Ramon as Interim President, effective November 17 until Dr. Sharp’s arrival on December 1. Ramon currently serves as the Vice President and Dean of Student Services.
“It’s an honor to serve Western Texas College during this important transition,” said Ralph Ramon, Interim President. “Dr. Sharp’s leadership will strengthen our mission to provide high-quality education and opportunities for all students. The WTC community is excited to welcome her and support her as she begins this new role.”
Western Texas College looks forward to welcoming Dr. Sharp to campus and continuing its mission of providing accessible, high-quality education for students in Snyder and the surrounding communities. With her leadership, WTC remains committed to fostering growth, opportunity, and excellence for future generations of students.
