Western Texas College welcomes Sergeant Doc Randell as the speaker for the annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on November 11, 2025. The ceremony takes place at the flagpoles on campus, just outside the Scurry County Museum. Western Texas College (WTC) invites all veterans, the community, students, faculty, and staff to attend the event.
“We invite the Snyder community to join WTC students, faculty, and staff as we honor the brave men and women who have kept us safe and protected our freedom,” said Dr. Barb Beebe, WTC President.
“Attending the Veterans Day Ceremony expresses your gratitude to veterans and their families in a meaningful way,” she added. “Your physical presence shows that you stand in support of these self-sacrificing people who put themselves in harm’s way to defend our country.”
WTC’s speaker for this year’s ceremony defended our country as a combat medic with the U.S. Army’s 1st Cavalry Division. Sergeant Doc Randell witnessed the power of progress, resilience, and national pride firsthand during multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Inspired by his grandfather, who served in the Air Force during the Berlin Airlift, Randell followed a call to serve after managing a restaurant next to a recruiting office. Guided by faith and gratitude for the freedoms our country provides, Randell believes that true honor lies in protecting the blessings of being an American.

“Sergeant Randell’s outlook reminds us of the honor, courage, and faith that define our nation’s heroes,” said Ralph Ramon, Vice President and Dean of Student Services. “We look forward to hearing his story.”
Dr. Geron Scates, Professor of Mass Communications and Radio Station Manager, will serve as the emcee of the event.
Following the ceremony, WTC will host a reception at the Scurry County Museum. The reception offers a meaningful opportunity for attendees to connect, share stories, and personally express their gratitude.
If severe weather occurs on that day, the ceremony will move inside the Scurry County Museum.
