Western Texas College announces this year's distinguished speaker for the Veterans Day Ceremony, Deputy Sheriff Lanny McAden. This year, the annual ceremony happens at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 10. The event takes place near the flagpoles on the front of the campus next to the Scurry County Museum.
In case of inclement weather, the Museum has graciously offered to hold the ceremony in their building.
“We extend a warm and heartfelt invitation to Veterans, community members, students, faculty, and staff to unite and honor these heroes,” said Dr. Barb Beebe, Western Texas College President. “They have fearlessly defended our great nation and the freedom we hold dear.”
“We feel privileged to honor our service men and women with this ceremony,” said Ralph Ramon, Western Texas College Vice President and Dean of Student Services. Ramon coordinates the event, working with faculty and staff across campus.
“And we’re very happy to have Lanny McAden as our speaker.”
McAden served in the United States Army, United States Air Force, and United States Marine Corps. He currently helps protect our community as a Deputy Sheriff for the Scurry County Sheriff's Office. McAden also worked as the Director of Security for Western Texas College (WTC).
Ray Newton, Drama Professor, will take on the role of Master of Ceremonies for the event.
After the ceremony, WTC will host a reception at the Scurry County Museum, where attendees can come together, share stories, and extend heartfelt gratitude.
Please join the WTC community as we show our respect and admiration for those who have sacrificed for our freedom. Your presence makes a difference and shows your support for the heroes who have protected our nation.
