Western Texas College received another recognition for its affordable, accessible, and high-quality education. University Magazine ranked Western Texas College (WTC) as the #2 Best Online College in Texas, according to their article published on November 1.

“This recognition underscores Western Texas College’s commitment to affordability, flexibility, and student success,” said Dr. Barbara Beebe, College President. “WTC is dedicated to meeting students where they are, whether that’s in Snyder, across the state, or around the world.”

The recognition from University Magazine is the second accolade the College has received in less than a week. At the end of last week, the Aspen Institute for College Excellence announced that WTC is one of the top 200 community colleges in the country and is eligible for the 2027 Aspen Prize.

“Our faculty have worked tirelessly to make sure online students receive the same level of quality instruction as those on campus,” said Stephanie Ducheneaux, Dean of Instruction. “This recognition affirms the dedication behind every online course we offer.”

The College delivers online courses through Brightspace, a streamlined platform that provides a seamless experience for accessing course materials, submitting assignments, and communicating with instructors. WTC also provides online advising and support services to help students stay on track from enrollment to graduation.

“Online learning at WTC isn’t just about flexibility, it’s about connection,” noted Ralph Ramon, Vice President and Dean of Students. “Advisors, tutors, and instructors are all accessible to ensure every student feels supported, no matter where they log in from.”

“I really like how the professors connect with each student because it isn’t a huge college,” said a sophomore in an online review. “Professors are understanding and go the extra mile for students with tutoring, study nights, and even one-on-one time.”

Rooted in Snyder and serving students across Texas and beyond, Western Texas College makes higher education accessible, affordable, and transformative. The College’s continued recognition reflects the dedication of its faculty, staff, and students who make WTC a place where opportunity thrives.

“Even though it is a small school in a small town, I would say the connections made make the campus feel bigger,” said another student in a review of WTC.

As Western Texas College celebrates these recent recognitions, the faculty and staff remain focused on providing affordable, accessible, and high-quality education for all learners. Whether on campus or online, WTC continues to empower students to achieve their goals and build brighter futures, one success story at a time.
