The Federal TRIO Programs (TRIO) are Federal outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. TRIO includes eight programs targeted to serve and assist low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities to progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to postbaccalaureate programs. TRIO also includes a training program for directors and staff of TRIO projects.
 

TALENT SEARCH

Talent Search provides academic, career, and financial counseling to its participants and encourages them to graduate from high school and continue to and complete their post-secondary education. 

Program Requirements

In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be one of the following:

  • Students who are a 1st Generation (neither of their parents has a 4-year degree)
  • Students in grades 6th - 12 the grade at participating schools
  • Students who meet our income guidelines
  • Students who demonstrate a desire to pursue post-secondary education and have a potential for academic success
  • Individuals up to 27 years of age who are interested in entering college-level courses

UPWARD BOUND

 

Upward Bound provides academic advisement as well as academic instruction for students through high school in order to prepare them for college and track each student until they graduate.

Program Requirements

In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be one of the following:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must attend one of the targeted high schools
  • Must be potential first-generation college graduates (neither parent holds a Bachelor's degree)
  • Must meet the Federal Income Guidelines
  • Most of all, students must demonstrate the desire to attend and graduate from college

STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES

Student Support Services provides support services to low-income students, first-generation college students, and disabled students enrolled in post-secondary education programs.

Program Requirements

In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a current or prospective student pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree, and you must be one of the following:

  • low-income
  • first-generation college students
  • disabled
