WTC Mass Communication Students Receive Press Association Awards

Five students from the Mass Communications program at Western Texas College recently received awards from the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association (TIPA). The honors were awarded earlier in April at the yearly TIPA convention.

The awards are from work submitted in the Previously Published Radio category for production completed in 2015. Western Texas College is the only two-year member college to receive award consideration.

“2016 marks the sixth consecutive year Western Texas College Mass Communications/Radio Broadcasting students have received award consideration from TIPA,” noted Geron Scates, Mass Communications professor.

Western Texas College Students who earned awards include: Dillan Cullifer, 2nd place Documentary; Chelsea Boynton, 2nd place Public Affairs Programming; Jocelyn Jeffery, 1st Place Production; Mason Gonzales, 2nd place Public Service Announcement; Blair McCowen, Honorable Mention Overall Excellence and Division 2 Reporter of the Year.
