Workforce Solutions Honors Snyder Partners with Sterling Awards at 25th Anniversary Celebration

Abilene, Texas — Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas hosted a 25th Anniversary Celebration and Sterling Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, on the 1st Floor of the Enterprise Building located at 500 Chestnut, Suite 1000 in Abilene. The 25th Anniversary event included remarks from key leaders including Texas Workforce Commission Executive Director Ed Serna, a short video commemorating recent successes, and a Sterling Awards presentation.Western Texas College Dean of CTE Shawn Fonville, Director of Workforce Development and Continuing Education Margo Mitchell, Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas Board Chair Bill Crist, Development Corporation of Snyder Executive Director Douglas Dowler, Development Corporation of Snyder Board of Director President Bill Robertson, Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas Executive Director Mary Ross, and TWC Executive Director Ed Serna

Sterling Awards recognize economic development, community, and education organizations for their partnership. “The Sterling Award recipients are special partners who have consistently collaborated and supported workforce development initiatives over the past 25 years,” said Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas Executive Director Mary Ross. “The initiatives benefit businesses, communities, and residents across West Central Texas.” The Development Corporation of Snyder and Western Texas College were honored during the ceremony.

Other recipients included: 2-1-1 A Call for Help, City of Abilene, Abilene Industrial Foundation, Breckenridge Economic Development Corporation, Brownwood Municipal Development District, Cisco College, Development Corporation of Abilene, Eastland Economic Development Corporation, Ranger College, Region XIV Education Service Center, Sweetwater Enterprise for Economic Development, Inc., Texas Midwest Community Network, and Texas State Technical College.

Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas has played a vital role in developing a skilled workforce throughout the 19 county region since inception in September 1996. Over the last 25 years, thousands of individuals seeking employment and employers needing skilled workers have been served by Workforce Solutions.  Innovative programs and training initiatives have also been developed to serve students and adults in an effort to meet employer demand.
