COLLECTING YOUR BELONGINGS FROM CAMPUS

Our priority is the safety of all Western Texas College students and staff.

Students can sign up for a day and time between now and May 1, 2020, to come and retrieve items left in their residence hall rooms. Students will have two hours to move out of the residence halls; this will allow us to manage the number of students in each of the residence halls to ensure social distancing protocols are being followed.

While removing items from the dorms, we ask you to follow the CDC COVID-19 guidelines and wear a mask and gloves, and to respect social distancing.

PLEASE DO NOT COME TO CAMPUS WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT.

To schedule a day and time, please contact Mr. Ramon by email at rramon@wtc.edu

DORM REFUNDS

Western Texas College is in the process of calculating prorated refunds for spring 2020 student dormitory & meal plans. The amount refunded will be based on a number of criteria, including those students not returning on, or departing after March 16, 2020.

Once refunds are calculated, students will be notified by email. Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.

OPPORTUNITY TUITION WAIVER

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Scurry County’s Stay Home Stay Safe order, Western Texas College will temporarily suspend Service to the Community volunteer hour requirements for the Opportunity Tuition Waiver.

To be eligible for the fall 2020 Opportunity Tuition Waiver, Scurry County graduates, and Scurry County dual-credit students must complete and submit the following items:

  • Opportunity Tuition Waiver Application
  • A 500-word essay discussing your interests, your accomplishments, any leadership experience, service or volunteer activities, and your future educational plans or goals.
  • Official High School Transcript or 8th Grade Report Card for new 9th grade Dual-Credit Students
  • Online Opportunity Tuition Waiver Orientation
  • Western Texas College New student Online Orientation (Scurry County High School Graduates Only)
  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA)

Please visit https://wtcedu.me/otw for details regarding the required items.

PASS/FAIL GRADING DECISION

After much discussion and input from faculty, administration, and staff, Western Texas College has decided to issue students letter grades for the spring 2020 semester. The College will not use a pass/fail option.

“We want our students to remain in the best position possible for their next step in life,” said Dr. Barbara Beebe, College President. “Our biggest concerns include students who will transfer, dual credit students, athletic/scholarship eligibility, and students who may return to continue their education later in life.”

Although WTC will be issuing letter grades for the spring 2020 semester, Pass/Fail grades from other institutions will be accepted for admission this summer and fall.
