Western Texas College Graduation FAQs

 

Are you ready to apply for graduation? You are on the right page!

Whether you are earning a certificate or completing an associate’s degree, just follow the simple steps below so that WTC can review your transcript for eligibility and make sure you receive information and updates about the Commencement Ceremony. 

  1. Apply for Graduation online HERE. If you are an International Student, please use the PDF version of the application HERE.

  2. Stop by the Business Office in Building 20 or call the office at 325-574-7610 and pay the $50.00 graduation application fee. Students must also take care of any holds on their accounts to be eligible to graduate.

  3. Check your email often. Information regarding your cap and gown, Commencement rehearsal, and other pertinent information for the ceremony will be sent to you by email. 

The deadline to apply for graduation is Friday, March 31, 2023.

Graduation Frequently Asked Questions 

When is graduation?

The 2023 Western Texas College Commencement Ceremony takes place at 10:00 a.m. on May 2, 2023. See more information HERE.

 

Where is the Commencement Ceremony held?

Western Texas College holds the Commencement Ceremony at the WTC Coliseum. See more about the ceremony and see maps HERE.

 

How do I know if I am eligible to graduate?

Fill out the Graduation Application. WTC will perform a degree audit and let you know by email immediately if you are not eligible. If you are eligible, you will get more information about the next steps.

 

Is there a paper graduation application available?

Yes. You can find the paper version HERE. Please download it, fill it out, and submit it to the Registrar’s Office (contact info above and below).

 

Does the $50.00 graduation application fee cover the cost of my cap and gown?

Yes. The fee covers the cost of your cap and gown, ten invitations, and your diploma.

The cost of any other regalia is your responsibility. Some departments and student organizations cover the cost of specialized regalia. Please check with the head of your program or your student organization’s sponsor.

 

I do not want to walk the stage at the Commencement Ceremony. Do I still have to apply for graduation?

Yes. In order to receive your official diploma in the mail, you still need to fill out the graduation application and pay the $50.00 graduation fee in the Business Office.

 

Do I have to buy tickets to the Commencement Ceremony for my family and friends?

No. The ceremony is free and open to the public. Invite as many people as you want!

 

When is the rehearsal for the Commencement Ceremony?

Rehearsal for the Commencement Ceremony is at 3:00 p.m. May 1, 2023, at the WTC Coliseum.

 

Will I receive my diploma at the ceremony?

No. You will receive your official diploma in the mail in the weeks following the ceremony.

 

Am I allowed to decorate my mortarboard (the cap in “cap and gown”)?

Yes! Feel free to express yourself to honor this milestone. You’ve earned it!

 

Will someone take my photo at the ceremony?

Yes. WTC arranges for a professional photographer to take your photo on stage with the College President. The photographer posts the photos on their website that are available for purchase. You will receive the link to the photographer’s website by email.

Additional photos of the ceremony will post on WTC’s official social media accounts.
