Lady Westerner Soccer

2009-2010 Team

Coming off a great season of competition, the women’s soccer team is looking to continue building for the future. The first season saw the team do well on the field and in the classroom with a record of 18-2, together with a 3rd place academic finish. The team was NJCAA Area V runner-up and placed several players on the all-area team and one all-American. The women’s team achieved national ranking (12th) during the season which was a milestone for a first year program. In the community, the team volunteered to coach the local youth league and spent many hours helping at the local school. The women’s team is returning the bulk of last year’s team, including the complete starting line-up from last season. It has added several new players who should have immediate impact on our program, such as goalie Lacy Burress, midfielders Melissa Sanchez and Tanesia Vassel, and forward Creeia Nuckols. Key returners are Peta-Gaye Soman and Lindsey Bardole ,who were leading scores last year, along with center mid Stacy-Ann Johnson and the entire returning defense.
