The Snyder native and Snyder High School graduate came to WTC from Washington State University. Williams had been the head coach of the NCAA Division 1 Cougars in the PAC-10 Conference for the past 13 years before deciding to come home. His Cougar teams were represented in the NCAA West Regionals 12 times during his tenure there. Coach Williams also mentored 24 All-PAC !0 performers as well as 4 All-Americans while at Washington State and his teams won over 20 Division 1 events while he was at the helm. Both the men's and women's team were ranked in the top 25 during his stay at WSU and he was selected the PAC-10 Coach of the Year in 2002.

Prior to moving to Washington State University, Williams was the head men's and women's coach at Sam Houston State in Huntsville, Texas. The Bearkats also had numerous successes during Williams 6-year stay at the Huntsville school including a Southland Conference Championship, 15 tournament wins and 12 All-Conference honorees. The Bearkats were represented four times in the NCAA Central Regional with Williams coaching and he was selected Southland Conference Coach of the Year in 1998.

After graduation from Snyder High, Coach Williams played collegiately at McMurry University in Abilene for legendary Coach Tommy Estes and was a member of two Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championship teams. When his playing days ended Williams was a club professional at several Texas country clubs before entering the coaching ranks.

He is a graduate of Sam Houston State and has been married to wife Carol for 28 years and is the proud father of 9 children and 3 grandchildren. Youngest son Gil is a freshman on the WTC Basketball team and 5 younger daughters at home are quickly becoming Westerner fans!
