Advanced Layout and Fabrication (4-2-6)

  1. Basic Course Information
    1. Course Description:  An advanced course in layout and fabrication. Includes production and fabrication of layout, tools, and processes. Emphasis on application of fabrication and layout skills.
    2. Any required prerequisites: Freshman level courses or permission of instructor
    3. Required Grade for Enrolling in the Next Course in this Sequence: Satisfactory Completion
  2. Student Learning Outcomes
    1. Apply appropriate techniques of fabrication
    2. Design welding projects
    3. Prepare drawings and produce templates
    4. Apply layout offsets
    5. Apply take offs
    6. Bills of materials
    7. Apply mathematical concepts in the construction of projects.
  3. Testing Requirements
    1. The final exam will take place in the welding classroom.
    2. Students are NOT allowed to use their book or but can use notes of any kind while taking their tests and exams.
    3. Students are allowed to use a calculator. 
  4. Major Course Requirements
    1. Attendance - 10%
    2. Participation – 20%
    3. Welding Fabrication Projects – 70%
