Portfolio Development

Western Texas College

  1. COURSE DESCRIPTION - Preparation of a portfolio comprised of completed graphic design projects. Evaluation and demonstration of portfolio presentation methods based on the student’s specific area of study.
  2. STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES - Arrange and refine projects for inclusion in a graphic design portfolio; identify industry requirements for employment; identify current events, skills, attitudes and behaviors pertinent to the industry and relevant to the professional development of the student; and create a presentation portfolio.
  3. MAJOR COURSE REQUIREMENTS
    1. Compile a clean and professional style portfolio in digital and physical form.
    2. Complete a resume and business card.
    3. Establish an online presence as a graphic designer.
    4. Participate in the final portfolio critique.
    5. Create and complete projects as needed to fill portfolio.
    6. Participate in class critiques and discussions.
  4. BOOKS AND MATERIALS
    1. Required Supplies
    2. Usual design supplies
    3. Mass storage device
    4. Professional grade paper for printing portfolio
    5. Portfolio enclosure (portfolio book, bookbinding supplies, etc.)
    6. Business card prints (printing of these will be on you)
    7. Resume prints
    8. Domain name purchase (if building website)
    9. *additional supplies may be required later in the semester.
