Virtual Reference Internship

Seeking volunteer interns who are interested in gaining experience with virtual reference

This is a service using instant messaging available to students and patrons at:
- Western Texas College in Snyder, TX
- South Texas College in McAllen, TX
- Paris Junior College in Paris, TX
- Abilene Christian University in Abilene, TX
- Odessa College in Odessa, TX
- Vernon College in Vernon, TX
- Northeast Texas Community College in Mount Pleasant, TX
- North Central Texas College in Gainesville, TX
- Texas State Technical College West Texas in Sweetwater, TX
- Ingleside Public Library in Ingleside, TX

Requirements:
- Interns must be graduates of or currently enrolled students at an ALA-accredited graduate school program
- Interns must either be Texas residents or enrolled in an ALA-accredited graduate program based in Texas
- Interns must commit to volunteering at least two hours per week
- Volunteer interns should be able to commit to volunteering from January 18th-May14th 2010. Successful interns can continue volunteering in later semesters.
- Must have reliable access to a computer and the internet during that time.
You should consider this opportunity if:
- You have taken or are currently taking an introductory reference course
- Have a strong interest in virtual reference
- Have good communication skills
- Are comfortable with instant messaging software
- Are willing to work from a distance
