The Magic of Christmas is coming to the Scurry County Museum! Tree set up is going on now! This year the trees will be placed throughout our Permanent Gallery in both the small and large sizes. Small trees consist of anything four feet tall and smaller and the large trees are anything over four feet tall. And the best part is anyone can enter a tree: individuals, businesses, families, and organizations.The cost to enter a tree is $25 for a small tree and $50 for a large tree. Everyone is invited to decorate and bring a unique Christmas tree to put on display. The trees will be on display from December 4-16 for the public to see and vote on.

There are two age groups for Lil Miss and Lil Mr. Christmas: younger Lil Miss and Mr.: Newborn through born on November 27, 2013. Older Lil Miss and Mr.: November 26, 2013 – November 27, 2010. And brand new for this year is the pet contest! If you think you have the cutest pet in Scurry County enter them to win the title! The contest is open to any pet in Scurry County, large or small, furry or not.

Book Review - Norman Wayne Brown

Norman Wayne Brown will present his newest book "Watering the Drags, Life and Times of W. E. Connell, Pioneer Cowboy, Rancher, and Banker." at the Scurry County Museum at 6:00 pm.
 
Norman Wayne Brown is retired from the United States Air Force and was a Texas State Parole Officer for over 17 years and now retired to follow his life's ambition to study and write about the old west. He has written six historical books about the old west. He is an author for True West Magazine, Wild West Historical Association and the Tombstone Epitaph. His articles appear in True West Magazine and Wild West History Association Journal regularly. He is a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans. He is a member of Wild West History Association and the West Texas Historical Association. He and his wife Bettie live in west Texas. Several of Norman Wayne Brown's books are available in the Scurry County Museum Store.
