Quick Guide: I Need More Help!

If you can't find anything (or enough) about your topic, talk to a reference librarian first.

The librarian may be able to help you search Spectrum or an electronic database using different keywords or direct you to a reference source that might not show up in a WebCat search.  If you are working off campus, call a reference librarian at (325) 574-7678 during LRC hours.

If you want a book or article that is not in the LRC and you can wait up to two weeks, you can request an interlibrary loan (ILL).

An Interlibrary loan means we will contact other libraries that might have your item and ask if any are willing to lend you their copy of a book or send photocopies of an article.  (Most libraries will not lend videos, CDs, or audiotapes through ILL.)  It may take 10 days to two weeks for an item to arrive.  The loan period is up to the lending library but is usually 3 to 4 weeks.  You return the book to us in time to mail it back; you may keep photocopies.  Interlibrary loan request forms are available at the Circulation Desk.

If you want a book or article that is not in the LRC and cannot wait to receive it through ILL, you can request a TexShare Library Card.

Currently enrolled WTC students who are registered as users by the LRC may request a TexShare Library Card.  This card allows you to visit a participating TexShare library and check out materials as if you were a user of that library, subject to certain limitations.  You will be responsible for returning books to the library and for any fines the lending library might charge for late returns.
